Have you heard of receipt apps as a way of making money

This really is a thing. I have been using these apps for a decade now .....and I have made thousands. Basically, the idea is that you upload the shopping receipts and you get paid . Usually, at first you get points, but you can then exchnge these points for money or gift cards. Companies analize the recipts, I admit I am not totally sure what information they want or get but I am not really bothered as long as I gain from it. Any personal info such as name, address or credit card details can be covered up. Some apps pay into your bank whereas others give gift cards ...I usually get Amazon gift cards. Have you heard of this .....do you do it ....

Yes, Pretty uses different apps and the money from them either gets deposited into our PayPal account or she gets Walmart cards that are on her phone and we use those instead of money there. (Some people throw their receipts on the ground or drop them when they're loading their groceries in their car. Pretty picks them up and scans them in, too, and then throws them in the trash.) If you're scanning the receipts, it isn't supposed to include any personal data.

@Traceyjayne Yup, yup! I think she uses three or four different apps and gets money from all of them. We only shop at Walmart and their cart pushers clean the carts out before taking them back in the store. That's why Pretty checks the ground for receipts when we go in and when we leave the store.

@DaddyEvil Walmart is Asda here and yes the trolley dollies ....usually older gentlemen ....are much more on the ball when it comes to removing the receipts from the trollies than they used to be. .... which is a shame for folks like me.

I'm pleased that you have a similar thing in your country, and that Pretty uses it. I usually look in the trolleys after doing my shopping and I usually find quite a lot. I love the fact that you can make money when it's not even your receipt and you can use the same receipt on several different apps.

i heard of it and i tried one croatian one but earning were pretty invisible and when i complained where my points are, they said i have to wait for a week or too. that was ages ago. i wish there were some apps where it isn't important where you're from so i can use it.

yes, that can be a problem with some apps ...you do sometimes have to wait a while and then get very little back. It can very annoying.

Oh, the lovely receipt hog ....we used to have that in the UK but they closed it down about three years ago. It was great. I do miss that app. I have not heard of Fetch ....I will look into that one but I'm not sure we have that one.

The only thing I use is Upside. But I don't have to upload receipts. It's just tied to my credit card. They give you offers for certain things like grocery stores, gas stations and some restaurants, and when you find them you hit "claim" and use the card and it pays you whatever the offer is. We do all right with it, but I only use it for things I'd already be doing.

That sounds great. I like the fact you don't have to do anything that you wouldn't normally do ....yet you get rewarded.

@Traceyjayne Most of the time, if you do anything just for a reward...you're wasting money to get a prize that's not actually a prize. Just my two cents. lol My aunt was one who HAD to use a coupon. If she had a coupon for a steak house in her pocket she HAD to go to the steak house to use it. I tried to tell her many times, if you weren't going to the steak house anyway, you didn't save anything by using the coupon. She never got it. She's dirt broke these days. lol

I will send some info to you. On one app I get £5 a month ...12 months x £5 = £60 a year I have been using the app for ten years .....so I have made £600 from that app alone. I sign my partner up too but I sort the receipts and accounts so now we make £10 a month... I get £5 a month added to my Amazon account from receipts too ....only been doing that one for since March 2022 but already made £227.80
