If it quacks like a duck …..

Best meal so far this trip and that’s for both Greece and France. Unfortunately the trip ends on Wednesday. To say that I enjoyed a Magret du Canard in the shadow of Bayeux Cathedral this lunch time would be a serious case of understatement. It was cooked rosé (bloodily pink, very nearly still quacking) and was served with a red berry sauce. This particular duck fulfilled its destiny in fine style. My wife had Poulet Normande and she too extacised for a while. Later at dinner, however, we both returned to earth with a bump in a restaurant where the food was okay but not remarkable. Later we took my brother around the cathedral which he enjoyed. We also sat in a few parks and went for a drink before dinner so we had about four hours with him. Until then I had thought Bayeux was as flat as a crêpe, but once you begin to push someone in a wheelchair you realise that very little of the earth is flat. I’m not complaining, but I’m exhausted and my back is very sore. Next time I visit we will try to rent a cottage that I know is only 100 metres from his nursing home. I felt a bit bad leaving him back to the nursing home and saying goodbye. Tomorrow we take the train to Rennes and on Wednesday fly back to Dublin.

It's good you were able to spend time with your brother. I know about pushing wheelchairs. Does he have other family there? I've forgotten - if I ever knew in the first place.

@judyev His wife is 15 drive away but doesn’t keep well. Kids live 300 miles away in Paris with very demanding jobs. Since they’ve just moved to Bayeux they know no-one. So I hope to get back in the autumn

I hope he enjoyed the visit as much as you did. Perhaps if you brought the chair up a bit so that you didn't have to stoop your back wouldn't hurt as bad afterwards.
