My garden doesn’t look as good as it should!

Over the last few years I have often divided or dug out extra perennials and offered them on Freegle or donated them to the plant stall at the local primary school summer fete. And several people have told me that their gardens look great thanks to me!
But this year my own garden is not looking as good as it should. We have been ‘adopted’ by a family of roe deer and between the three of them they have devastated a lot of my flower borders! Even plants that have been here for years and were previously untouched by deer – maybe these deer have different tastes to the Muntjac that visit more frequently, or maybe they have just developed a liking for certain plants, or maybe because there are more of them… whatever, they love to eat the flower heads especially, and then move onto the young leaves.
I now have extensive patches of bare stalks instead of hardy geraniums, phlox, roses, fuchsias, honeysuckle… I don’t mind them nibbling leaves here and there and some plants, like the fruit trees, can easily be browsed without much impact, but I’m starting to get annoyed now.
If only they would eat grass and save us the trouble of mowing!!

Spray with bitter apple or some sort of deterrant. Been there done that. I have the T shirt with the deer.

Maybe you should do something to discourage them? Mom used to plant marigolds all along the borders of our garden to keep deer, squirrels, raccoons and ground hogs out of it.

Shiny things that blow in the wind can help as deer are usually very shy. Make sure you move them every few days or they do get used to them

I'm so sorry the deer are devastating your flowers. They sell deer deterrent at Amazon I'm sure.
