When a review is not a review ....it's just to make money !

There are a few people who post on social media, who are making a video of products, or food etc by way of a review....however, it has been noted that one of these people are making a video one day saying a product is good and giving a great review and gaining comments for which they earn money. Then the next day they are doing another video slating the product and telling you in their review not to bother buying it. Again they get comments and these in turn generate payment. I think this is a very dishonest way of making money. This particular person has got thousands of followers ....I'm not one of them and don't comment ....and each post gains well over 300 comments, sometimes a lot more, so the money they are making is quite a lot. It is said he gets 30p per comment. He posts several times a day about his life as well as reviewing products.....In fact that is how he earns his living. We all have to make a living and I admit ... I posted about this recently .....that I have thought about doing the same sort of thing. However , what bugs me is the fact that he is clearly just making things up in his posts just to earn money. I feel the reviews should be honest. what do mylotters feel about this .....

I don't watch people making review videos. I don't care about their opinions. Pretty used to write reviews of products but she wrote honest reviews. Sometimes she'd ask me my opinion of something and I'd tell her and she'd add that to her written review. I have posted (several years ago) a review about myLot that is still being viewed. (I get notified when someone reads it.) Reviews, as long as they're honest are fine.

yes, I agree....they all should be honest. I write product reviews of some of the items I get fior free but it is only on that app site , and I don't get paid.

@Traceyjayne Pretty only got the product she reviewed as "payment". I did that once for a vacuum cleaner company. They sent me a vacuum and I used it for six months and reviewed it... It was a Shark and I really liked it. When we moved into this house, we found out it could only be used on wood floors or very short carpeting. We used it on the carpet here and it burned out the motor.

People these days don't care; they just do what they want, even if they trick or scam other people. That's why before I buy, I usually look for a store that has a lot of reviews. If I see one that has negative reviews, I don't buy from that store and look for one that has better reviews.

I’m not on social media much, but I never watch videos. That person sounds really dishonest. I write reviews, but I don’t get paid; I just get the products I review to keep. And boy, have I written scathing ones. I couldn’t take depending on comments for money.

Of course reviews should be honest but many are not. We take all reviews with a very big pinch of salt.

I definitely agree with you, reviews should be honest. People will say anything for a free gift or a few dollars, and half the time the reviews aren't even real. It makes it hard to trust what's genuine anymore.
