Writing here keeps my brain active It is about creating posts, looking for images, responding and commenting All this needs thinking and the brain needs this exercise.
All those brain ailments - amnesia, dementia and alzheimer's I think are due to the brain hibernating
Besides, myLot activity I also work on word games where thinking is needed.
My advice If you want to stay away from those brain issues keep it active if you are not already

Crossword puzzles and reading also help keep your brain active and the ailments away from you.

Yes indeed. I am not much of a reader though but yes I do Wordle every day. I also play some Solitiaire card games and those also need a bit of thinking.

Depends on the way a brain is used I think. The Net has some info on this
I asked that question and I got this
Yes, disruptions or reductions in brain activity can be a significant factor in amnesia, dementia, and Alzheimer's disease. While these conditions have distinct characteristics, they all involve changes in brain function that can lead to memory loss, cognitive decline, and impaired daily functioning.

@LadyDuck I may be wrong but at the end of the day I think it is the way a brai is used. I have three sisters who are old and two have lost their memory but one who will be 90 is alerlt She runs a school for kids in her property

@allknowing NO, it's absolutely not the way the brain is used. At least on this all professors agreed. My husband thought business classes until two years ago, then he started to become forgetful. He still understand everything, but he can remember nothing of the present.

I see on You Tube a channel that advises me as I get older to write to keep my brain from wearing out and fall ill.

Yes, don't let your brain go lazy and hibernating. Sometimes, some other medical issues can lead to early onset of dementia, alzeihmers etc. And in those cases too brain boosting activities can help. I read, write, do handwork, socialize...all to keep my brain active. I will do big puzzles too with my younger daughter.

I think tranquilizers affect one's brain and I doubt if there is anything to counter it

You have to make a beginning somewhere One word at a time will let you progress You must check the next day for answers and that is how you get to know how it is done
