What About Pineapples?

Anyone like pineapples? I love pineapples juice mixed with grapefruit juice. You have to add a little more of the pineapple. It is delicious. I also learned years ago how to pick a ripe pineapple. It is rather obvious when you think about it. The one that is more yellow or orange in color is more apt to be ripe. Duh! And it will smell sweet too. If it has the least fermented or alcoholic-like smell it is going bad. A good pineapple is so delicious. I used to make my grandmother a pineapple upside down cake for her birthday. She loved it.

Pineapples are very very good for us
Yvonne pointed out some of the benefits of drinking pineapple juice to me many years ago and since then I have bought 2 x 1 litre cartons every week.
Pineapple upside down cake is a thing of beauty...
And a slice of pineapple deep fried in a nice batter and served with ice cream is a great way to finish a meal

I will eat a little pineapple before it starts hurting me... I will drink a little pineapple juice mixed with another juice but it will make my tongue and throat feel raw afterwards.
There's a chemical in pineapple that will digest human tissues if you eat or drink too much of it.
Pretty always buys small cans of pineapple because she loves it but can't eat much of it without it trying to eat her, too.

That's bizarre. I used to eat and drink quite a bit of it with no problem. A lot of it does make my mouth raw though. I think some people are more sensitive than others.

@celticeagle I think the chemical is called something like bromelain... I've read about it before.
I think you're right and some people are more sensitive to it than others.

There's nothing like a fresh pineapple. So different from canned pineapple pieces.
