I like to play the bigger lotteries like our state lottery that has a current jackpot of $10,550,000 and the Powerball which has a current jackpot of $128,000,000, but the little twice a day daily draw that starts off at $100,000 is also fun to play (and only $1) when its jackpot gets a little higher.
Right now, it's at $800,000, but if no one wins during the midday drawing, it will go to $850,000.
At that level, after taxes, you'd take home $480,000. Not life changing money, of course, and not near the actual prize pool, but that's the way it goes.
Uncle Sam wants his cut.
Still, I look at it this way. If I take $480,000 and invest it and earn a conservative 6%, which is very easy to do, I'd take home $28,800 a year. To me that's not a shabby added supplement to our money, and well worth it.
Do you like to play the lottery? As for your state lottery (not the multis), what's the current jackpot right now? I'm a curious fellow.

@Ineeddentures Neither am I, technically, since I know it's a fool's plan to get rich. BUT, someone HAS to win, and I can afford to play, so...why not?

I want to, but I don't understand the whole cash in thing. Never knowing when we'll go somewhere, makes it hard for me to know when I can have the ticket checked.

@porwest They do. Before George's stroke, we used to check them. Now he can't help me, because he might read the numbers wrong.

@kaylachan Yeah. You definitely want to get the numbers right. Although here if I buy a ticket online it automatically tells me if I won or lost and if I win, the money goes right into my account.

I do play our local lotto game. The current biggest jackpot is 183 million. I am claiming it. But I also play the small ones like the 2-digit numbers, 3, and 4-digit numbers. The price is only 4K, but it is already a lot if you win it daily.
Luckily, I won the 5-digit main lotto and am now claiming the million-peso Jackpot!
I hope you win, so you can congratulate me on my win too.

I don’t usually play the big lottos. I prefer scratch-offs as at least they are fun to do, even if I win nothing.

@porwest But some scratch-offs pay millions. You gotta get lucky though.

@lovebuglena You have to get lucky with all of them. But the scratch offs worth millions are usually $10 and up. I'd rather only pay $2 for the chance.

As you know, I've played the same numbers since 1989. I just won another $2. lol Someone won fairly recently; so the cash option is around $2 million. I'd take it.

yeah, yeah, yeah, who wouldn't want to win the lottery?
I know I would but my luck doesn't work that way like yours.
