Roast beef dinner and all the trimmings ....

United Kingdom
June 22, 2025 1:13pm CST
So, today , being Sunday we had a roast lunch. Today we had roast beef, roast potatoes, cabbage, cauliflower, french beans, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. I had English mustard on the side too. My Mom is a brilliant cook so lunch was, as always, delicious. Pudding today was Tiramisu....shop bought not home made. What did you have for your Sunday lunch .....

I was sick all night last night and still don't feel my best. I haven't eaten anything yet today. (I don't normally eat "lunch" until around 5 pm.) I made turkey salad yesterday to make sandwiches with today and we have steamed veggies in the fridge to go with it. The veggies just need re-heated in the microwave and they'll be ready. (Broccoli for me and sliced potatoes, onions and carrots for Pretty.) Your lunch sounds delicious! Is it broiling hot in England? We're staying inside with the AC running today.

It was melting weather the past few days but today has been a lot cooler and we even had a shower of rain.

Glad to see Yorkshire pudding was included. Tiramisu is quite good..I have only ever had it shop bought and would have no idea about how to make it without a recipe

I love Yorkies ....we only have them at home when we have beef ....as should be ...however , when we go out for a carvery I always have a yorkie whatever meat I have. Tiramisu is quite easy to make but I usually buy it.

@Ineeddentures When we go out the roast potaties usually go inside the yorkies, giving me more room for other munchables on my plate. I use the Toby app, and I get Blue Light discount , so I usually get a good deal.

@Traceyjayne Agreed. Although I sometimes make two fair sized ones and fill them with a whole variety of things. As for going out and eating a carvery these days, it's too expensive and also when I go out to eat I don't want to be sitting thinking and knowing I could have cooked what I am being served better

Your post takes me back to my dating days. My husband's mom always had a big Sunday dinner on the table when we came in from church. Usually roast beef and potatoes and coleslaw. She was such a good cook. I just made vegetable soup for lunch yesterday.

@Traceyjayne I made it in a sauce pan. Ground beef, sauteed onions, frozen veggies, canned tomatoes and tomato sauce, and plenty of spices. It was pretty good.
