It has taken me the best part of 20 years, but I finally got around to visiting Abbey Road, of Beatles fame.
The album, and original photograph, date from 1969 and the publication made this zebra crossing world famous.
Some friends, of a friend in LA, were visiting and wanted a tour of music locations in London. This meant wandering around Soho, on the hottest day of the year… until Saturday! Never has an orange juice in a pub been so welcome.
I guess the motorists are fairly used to the constant stopping and starting as people pose on the crossing.
The Abbey Road sign on the back of the album was stolen a long time ago. The one in the photo is higher up and pretty safe.
The Abbey Road studios are the next building along, from the crossing. I took a photo, but all I got was a fuzzy shot of the pavement and road.

How cool is that! They have an EarthCam live camera at the site, so everyone either wants to go there or watch the people who have made it there walk across!!!
