What you see at the end of a bunch of bananas on a banana plant is called a flower. That is the first thing one sees before it opens up into several hands of bananas
Many make great dishes with it. Even before the banana bunch is ready for harvesting it is cut off and made use of This activity does not affect the growth of the tiny bananas.
It takes months for the bananas to get ready to cut the branch off the plant.

I had no idea how long a banana would take to grow my friend..
I just checked, and we have no bananas in the house just now.
Must get some on Tuesday which is today silly me
If I had a banana tree I would need a plucker
