So today we woke up around 8:30. Hubby turned on the television and we got caught up in watching some of the old Adam's Family shows. Next came coffee in bed. I started doing some surveys on my phone when my husband asked me if that was the dog he heard barking a few minutes ago. I didn't hear it and the chickens were not flustered, so didn't think much of it. Then the dog started barking again...like when a delivery person shows up that he does not like. So my husband went outside to see what the problem was. I thought, hey just a package being dropped off. Nope! One of the roosters that is housed separately escaped. This is the rooster that my granddaughter had to have -- one that I hatched a couple of years ago. This rooster was white and she fell in love with him. He lasted at their house for about a year when he was returned. I was told that the father in law, who also lives there couldn't take the crowing. So I set my coffee aside, got dressed and went to get the big guy. This rooster is very docile and lets me walk up and just pick him up. I stroked his neck and back to keep him calm. The only problem had was getting by the dog's area to get back to the chicken pens. That took a bit of work because Duke wanted to "play" and/or eat the rooster. The rooster stayed calm and we managed to get thru without any harm done to me or to the dog. Have you had any unexpected things happen first thing in the morning lately?
