It’s 4 O’Clock Somewhere: My Accidental Tribute to Gram

Have you ever heard the idiom, “Sometimes, when I open my mouth, my mother comes out”? Lately, I seem to be invoking my grandmother instead.
Gram was never one to watch much TV, especially before the 6:00 PM news. We actually lived in Mom’s house, but Gram was the one running the ship. No TV was allowed at mealtimes. But, by the time she was my age, Gram could be seen every afternoon at 4:00 PM, sitting down with a Scotch to watch her favorite (now syndicated) show.
With TV as it is today, there isn’t necessarily anything I specifically sit down to watch (unless it’s Matlock, NCIS, Watson, or something like that). And, I don’t keep it running for hours. But, lately, I have realized I am turning the TV on around 4:00 PM—just like my grandma used to do.
What family member’s ritual have you unintentionally inherited?

Well
My wife says I am just like my dad was
He hid food in his shed so his wife wouldn't see it.
My wife Yvonne found some in my shed on a rare visit to see me whilst I was working in it.

I sometimes find that the side of my family that was Mom's comes out, but not in a very nice way. I do find I am very demanding about when my meals are.

I've known plenty of people like that. I live alone now, so I eat whenever. Today, I was so busy getting ready to go out that I had a lozenge for breakfast and nothing else until about 3:00 PM.

I think we all do a little something, and not just what our parents or grandparents did. We pick up habits from friends, too.

I lived those days, too—, well, one channel (ABC) at our vacation home and three VHF and 3 UHF channels at home. But I lived outside of Philly, and that's part of the reason we had those three extra channels.
