Thoughts Today

It’s 4:30 PM and this complex is eerily, yet pleasingly quiet today. That can happen when you live in a place for the disabled of any age or seniors 62+, but sometimes it feels like you hear everything.
I can’t remember when I woke up, but was so pleased to realize I was in the middle of my king-size bed and not hanging half off the right. Henry (cat) was on one side near my shoulder, and Nick (guide dog) was on the other side by my foot. But, earlier, this Bouvier des Flandres was beside me, curled up on a pillow.
It’s 82°F, with a RealFeel® of 94°F. My windows are open and the breezes are wonderful. I live creekside—about a mile from the lake. I’m so grateful to live this far north in the summer. Here’s hoping the HEAT of the summer ended with last week’s heatwave. Two years ago, I was able to take my A/C down in August. I am hoping to do it again.
It’s going to be so wild if I can get that two-bedroom upstairs. It’s literally across the hall, one apartment over, so the move would be a breeze. With all the friends I have in my 55+ seniors group, there will be teenage and young adult men galore to help get everything upstairs.
It probably won’t even take 30 minutes to get this whole place clear. Honestly, when I moved from the upstairs to the downstairs at the last complex four years ago, it was a little further away, and I had most of the stuff moved by myself (with dead knees) in just about that much time. Friends came by later to help with the big stuff. I got the keys on the 8th, moved out and had the place cleaned before the end of the day on the 9th (and I had until the 14th to get it all done).
Moving here was a different story. It was further away and I had just had my knees replaced, so it took a little longer, but I got it done.
Anyway, I know I’m rambling here. But, the truth is, I’m antsy, and just want to get away from this hall. Once upstairs, I can walk down the hall that looks out over the community room before deciding to come down for my mail or anything else. Walking Nick will be easier, too. We can still go to the other end of the building (closer to the pasture), but walking the upstairs hall and then down the stairs at the vestibule will keep me from those bullies.
How is everything with you today?

Sounds as if you live in paradise. Cooler temps and near the water in a quiet area. Nice.
It is hot here. We will see three digits next week. Oh yeah! Not. I am stillwaiting for the spring thunderstorm we usually get but haven't yet this summer.

@Chellezhere .......we have very little snow since we are in a valley. Sounds like you live in an odd spot.

We had the coldest winter in 37 years—117 inches of snow altogether. Precipitation started in November and (snow or rain) did not stop until about two weeks ago.

@celticeagle I live in the finger Lakes region of New York. It’s the snow belt.

@Ineeddentures I'm hopeful to find out this week. Was hoping to have heard last week, but we are between managers and the Regional manager didn't make it in Thursday.

I hope you have a good evening, too. I liss those Florida thunderstorms. I miss rainy Florida days. I just don't miss the heat and humidity.

Thank you. I can't help but notice how much Nick keeps going upstairs after I take him for a walk. He always goes right to that door and the laundry room right next to it. I think if a dog does that, it must be a sign.

I am enjoying my day working at home sharing news stories and completing surveys under a partly sunny day.

I hope you find out soon that you got the apartment. Please give the fur babies a pet from me. It's very lonely for me on the weekends.

@LindaOHio Thank you. Yes, I will. I'm really thinking positively and will be over the moon to have a spare room again. Once I do, I am going to work on convincing my son (whom I have not seen face-to-face [except through video chat] since 3/27/2020) to move out here. Henry will love seeing and playing with his older human brother again, and I know Ry and Nick will love each other, too. My son is 30, so you know they'll love—NOT, him being here.

Will do. Henry and Nick send their best and thank you for your pets.
I’m hopeful to have an answer by the end of this week. It was a bummer not getting one last week. But the regional manager did have to spend two days at the courthouse so she was really quite busy.
I know that if my dreams come true and I do get this apartment that I’ll be vegging out for a little while. Oh, I’ll still go out, especially since I have to walk Nick, but I am going to spend as much time as I can in my apartment decompressing.

@Chellezhere Tell Henry and Nick thank you. lololol
I know you'll keep us advised if you get the apartment. Good luck. It will be nice to get away from the problem residents.
