Were You Taught That Staring is Rude?

I was from an early age. Being curious I did tend to stare at people sometimes. But, nowadays I find myself staring. Honestly. I remember back when young boys fashion became bizarre. Remember the shorts up above the top of theirs jeans? That was weird to me. I stare now days because people are wearing ugly make up, clothes, and doing odd and hateful things. Who wouldn't stare? And, I think if my grandmother was alive today she'd be staring too.
What are your thoughts on this?

I was taught it is not polite to stare, and I dislike it if anyone stares at me.
I try to keep to myself when I see oddities because in today's day and age, people will get violent or yell at you if they feel you staring at them.
Live and let live is all.

@celticeagle My Dad used to tell me that one Quaker said to the other, 'nobody is as perfect as me or thee, and sometimes my dear, I wonder about thee.' That has stuck with me since my childhood.

I agree. Sometimes I don't realize that I am staring.

@celticeagle I stare with an expression of incredulity on my face and my mouth hanging open when people guffaw loudly in cafes and spoil my reverie. If they see me they tend to get embarrassed which is my intention. Normally they don’t notice.

I totally agree with what you're saying. I think weird needs to be acknowledged.

Strange or odd clothes and make up does make people stare. Of course people have their taste.

As a child if I was curious about something or trying to figure something out I would stare and at times with an open mouth like in astonishment,

I think that is rather normal. Now days the weirdness and bizarre is just too prevelant.

Yes, I was taught to never stare at anyone. But sometimes I think we all do it, or keep glancing at whoever it is. Just not openly.

Well
There is much that we see that we cannot help but stare at
I was walking to my house
Coming the other way was this girl , most likely about 12, wearing a tiny little bra and nothing else and a wee pair of pants that were a couple of sizes to small.
As she approached, as I reached my door, she asked me wtf I was staring at!!
Oh how I laughed.

@celticeagle
It was the way her face distorted when she spoke,
Just demonstrates though that even walking on a pavement towards someone coming the other way can be seen as staring
