Police officers from the Mackinac County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) and officers from the Mackinac Bridge Authority answered an emergency call about an opossum who was seen on the bridge.
Thanks to the teamwork of the deputies and the bridge employees, the opossum was caught and placed into a cage and taken by the bridge officials to the southern part of the bridge where the opossum was taken to Mackinaw City safely.

I am in agreement with you that opossum relies on instinct instead of thinking power like humans do.

From the picture, it seems the opossum was smart enough to stay on the footpath, and not on the road. It was good it was rescued, before it took a chance, and went on the road.

You are right that the opossum did nit enter the roadway before the authorities arrived to save the animal from getting hurt.
