The ocean has been dangerous this past week

Not sure why as there aren't any off-shore storms that I know of. There have been multiple water rescues here at the Jersey Shore and unfortunately I think 1 of the individuals died. I was scrolling through FB earlier and saw a local news group had posted a video of a water rescue over at the beach. Apparently a group of people got sucked out by a rip tide and didn't know how to get out of it. (swim parallel to the beach until you are out and can swim back to shore) What I found interesting though was that a rescue vehicle arrived towing a Waverunner (aka "jet ski") and the lifeguards pushed that into the water. Then one of them rode it out and towed in the individuals one by one. I've never seen that before. I've lived here at the Jersey Shore all of my life. I've seen lifeguards swim out and tow in people way too many times but they always did it under their own power. Yes I've seen them patrol with a Waverunner but I've never seen it used in that way to actively rescue multiple people. I suppose it is safer all-around unless you are one of the last people waiting to get towed in.

It would certainly be scary if you had to wait your turn to get rescued.

It's a pity a life was lost. The Waverunner would be a faster way to rescue people.

That's interesting! I am very far from the shores. Glad that all are saved. Sad about the one life lost.
