Pamela Gallagher who is a resident of Bay Shore neighborhood in Long Island heard the cries of a kitten who was in an underground pipe for a period of 18 hours on Monday June 2 when she contacted the Suffolk County Police Department (SCPD) and the Bay Shore Fire Department (BSFD) to see if they could rescue the kitten. Long Island Cat Kitten Solution Vice President John DeBacker was asked to rescue the kitten by use of a Ketch-All pole to get the kitten out of the pipe and into a safe place. The kitten who is named Piper was taken by the animal rescue member to the New York City Second Chance Rescue to be taken care of by veterinarian and hopefully get adopted and find a new home. The officials believe that the kitten fell into the underground pipe by accident and not as an act of evil by a person who hates kittens. Link is upi.com/5451749051915 via @upi

Poor little thing. Curiosity isn't a good thing. Glad it's okay.

A cute moment to rescue a young kitten. I wondered who owns it.

“Long Island Cat Kitten Solution Vice President” - sounds like a cool job title that many people would want. Also, very cute kitten. If I saw a kitten in a shelter that looked like that, I would be tempted to adopt them. However, I wouldn’t go through with it because I know that I don’t know how to take care of them properly. I want kittens to be safe with someone who loves them. Maybe I need to learn eventually, as some of my friends think I’m a cat lady. I haven’t got there in my thinking and learning yet.

Same with me wanting to adopt a kitten but I would to be a very rich person to take care of them.

@Ineeddentures That is a good question other than money problems having to feed cats.

The kitten was lucky to be rescued unharmed, as if something, like water, started flowing through the pipe, it could easily have been killed.

That is true had water running in the pipe could have killed the kitten.
