Restaurant was a miss

Went to a restaurant with my mom this past Saturday. We each got an order of chicken and waffles and we shared a plate of three potato pancakes.
The chicken and waffles dish had way too many potato slices and only a few fairly small chicken pieces. The waffle was very oily and dark in color. The chicken tasted ok but nothing to rave about. At least it wasn’t dry. Potatoes were ok but nothing special. The potatoes pancakes were thicker than I would have liked and not much flavor to them. I ordered cranberry juice and when we got the bill it turned out it cost $6. I would have not gotten it had I known ahead of time how much it is.
With tip and a fee for paying with a card the bill came out to somewhere in the $70s I think. I’m never going back to this place again. No wonder it didn’t have a high star rating.

Did you know it did not have a high star rating before you went there.
Also are the prices of everything not on the menu?
$6 for cranberry juice is outrageous.
Leave them a bad review Lena and tell everyone about the cranberry juice

I did not see drinks on the menu. I just asked if they had cranberry juice and the girl said yes so I got one. I didn’t ask the price as I didn’t think it’d be that much.
I knew of the 3 star rating (or maybe it was 3.3) but the other two restaurant options were the same. So we decided to give a try the one we went to.

The one we were in tonight was excellent.
No idea how many stars,
But the food was good.
See when you go out to a restaurant, do you have to pay for water ?

@Ineeddentures If you get tap water no. If you get bottled water yes. Recently mom asked for mineral water. She thought they’d give her a glass of it. They brought a whole bottle. She was charged $8 for it I think. Or maybe it was $7. Either way a ripoff.

I guess it’s to be expected when the rating is 3 or 3.3. At the same time you never know. All it takes is one person to give a low rating for the average rating to go down.

I love potato pancakes and when not making them myself I used a mix in Latvia, Sadly here it seems I cannot get a mix for them or frozen form, I do not want to make them myself now,

There is a potato pancake (or maybe it’s called potato latkes) mix where I live in NYC. It’s sold in the kosher isle at the supermarket. Brand is Manischewitz.

I’ve paid that before in other places. Also not knowing how much it would be. If the cranberry juice is delicious it’s one thing but if it’s just ok no way. $6 is a rip off.
