Ahhhh. The humidity is way, way down. It’s a beautiful summer day! I’ll get out and enjoy the sun after lunch, but first I have to give you a little sunshine in the form of another song with “sun” in the title. (Oh, quick aside: no “Sunday” songs, even though the day is named after the sun. ) Here’s today’s song. Are You Getting Any Sunshine - Lou Christie Lou Christie died last month. He was 82, making him the third 82-year-old singer in a row to pass away in a week during June. (The other two were Hall of Famers Sly Stone and Brian Wilson.) I never was so happy to see Paul McCartney turn 83! Christie had five top 40 hits, the biggest being “Lightning Strikes.” His last top 40 single was “I’m Gonna Make You Mine.” This song was the follow-up single to that top ten hit, but it only managed to get to #73 on the Billboard chart. His name faded with time (you probably don’t know the name, but if you hear “Lightning Strikes” with that signature falsetto voice of his you’ll go, “Oh, yeah, I know that”), but the music will always remain. Are You Getting Any Sunshine Written by Lou Christie and Twyla Herbert Recorded by Lou Christie From I’m Gonna Make You Mine, 1969 In and out of it:

@FourWalls He’s also a British former athlete who’s held the world record for the triple jump since 1995. 18.29m. That’s 60 feet. How incredible is that? I don’t know if he can sing, but I am singing his praises.

I don’t usually get music requests for an 18th century Congregationalist preacher, but I’ll see what I can do….

Great “bubblegum” sound, which was pretty common for Buddah Records at the time.

This bombed, especially after “I’m Gonna Make You Mine” was a hit.

It bombed after a big hit, which happens a lot in music.
