My dear Relatable Reese lost one of her animals yesterday. It is so hard to lose an animal. They are so sweet and marvelous to be around. We have one cat, Silver, out of the five, who is quite old and could pass this realm at any time. He's very frail. It will be really tough when the time comes. We have had him with us since my grandson was a very young boy. He is 23 now. Silver has been a real gift to us. Animals are so special.
Do you have an older animal or have one that has passed recently?

Poor old Silver.
I don't like seeing them get old and frail
Our two
Cookie and Felix both got into their 20,s
We knew when the time was right to involve the vet.
I held cookie in my arms when she passed
And when Felix crossed the bridge, Yvonne held her in her arms
Two really sad days
I cried both times.

I have heard of a few that make it that long. Not many. Sad days to be sure. Lovely that you two were there with them.

All our dogs are gone. Except for the last two; we kept them until it was time for them to be euthanized. We had to surrender our two Pomeranians. One kept getting out of the fenced yard. We were afraid he would be hit by a car, stolen or attacked by coyotes. They were immediately adopted which did not surprise me. I hope they are happy and in a secure environment.

How sad. We had to euthanize our dog, Stryder. He fell down the stairs. It was very sad. We took him to where we used to go camping and buried him there.

@celticeagle That breaks my heart. We had two Norwegian Buhunds, Olaf and Inga. Inga went suddenly blind and couldn't adjust. She didn't want to be petted or anything. One day she was coming up the steps and fell off. We had to euthanize her; but she was better off because she wasn't happy.
