A week or so ago, a friend asked if I could take care of some of her animals while she went on holiday. She has arranged for her brother to house-sit and care for some of the pets (two dogs, two cats, a couple of fish tanks, a snake or two and a lizard), but she thought if he had to deal with everything it might be too much. So she came round this morning with a big bag and I am now the foster carer for a giant millipede (called Brutus), an African land snail (Sauron), hundreds of isopods of two different varieties (basically fancy woodlice), and five different tarantulas: a curly hair (called Bilbo), a Brazilian black (Mouse), a Mexican red knee (Cocoa), a Martinique pink toe (Julian) and a metallic pink toe (Craig) A few days ago I mentioned to Little One that I had been asked to care for various spiders and before I could even finish what I was saying she responded with a very emphatic ‘No, you are not doing that!’ so I couldn’t even tell her that I had agreed already.
