I am guilty of murder...well at least manslaughter!

So, yesterday while on a little expedition up a little used road that runs perpendicular to our community, I was tooling along when a squirrel with a strange gait, ran directly in front of my car. I would have done anything to avoid it, and felt bad that I hit it, but there was no choice in the matter. Usually, squirrels do this neurotic running about when a car is present and escape, but this one was directly in the path. Yeah, was truly dead, as I saw it on the way back RIP..McNutt!

That would have left me shaking. Hitting any form of life would have hurt deeply.

@snowy22315 - I know it is sad, I remember that my husband could not miss a little sparrow once. I was sad all the day.

Nothing you could do. It's not worth wrecking to try to miss them

Sometimes these things happen and there is just nothing you can do about it. I'm glad it wasn't something bigger.

Yes, many years ago, pretty sure I hit a goose, and about 10 years ago hit a groundhog. He ran right under my wheels and it was at night.

RIP. what is the chances of truly hitting a squirrel size animal? It is close to difficult achievement. Go and buy lottery or something which is an old wife tale. If you kill something on the road, you buy lottery. if you strike the lottery, use a part of the money to donate to some animals charity.

That is sad, for both you and the squirrel. They can be unpredictable, stopping and then darting in another direction.
