String Beans and Squash.

Tonight's dinner will be a classic -- squash and string beans sauteed in garlic, onion, and a bit of meat for extra flavor. The bright orange of the squash and the vibrant green of the string beans make it as pleasing to the eyes as it is to the stomach. I love how the squash turns soft and slightly sweet while the string beans keep their crisp bite. It's a humble dish, but it reminds me of home, of family meals shared around the table. Sometimes, it’s the simplest food that brings the most satisfaction. It is still early for dinner, but you see I'm lazy so I want everything to be done at my own time.

I like meals that I enjoyed as a child. They bring back good memories.

I will eat squash raw but don't like it cooked... I love green beans fried like you're doing them. I just cooked some pasta for breakfast and went ahead and am eating a bowl of it. There is still plenty more on the stove if you're hungry.

@rakski Yes, pasta is still in the fridge... Pretty started the slow cooker with beef, onions and green beans if you get here for late supper today.

I usually like that dish with shrimp or some coconut cream, but either way — shrimp or pork, with coco cream or none — it’s always tasty! But the string beans look like they were just thrown in and aren’t cooked yet? I don’t like my veggies overcooked, but I don’t like them too raw either. Just that perfect balance — still crisp with a nice bite.

Yes, you are right. When I took the photo, it was still in the process of cooking. I prefer it just sautéed without the coconut milk. Shrimp is good too.

I am glad you put some meat in there for extra flavour. Simple food is as you say quite satisfying And for a simple man like me it's ideal. I was once called Jim The Simple on here lol
