Do you still get an ice cream van down your street ?

Something I remember very clearly was the ice cream van coming to our street when I was a child. They played music so that you knew they were on their way.
I had a screwball…I cone shaped container with a bubbly gum ball at the bottom topped with ice cream and drizzled with raspberry sauce.
Sometimes I would have a heart shaped ice cream on a stick…it had a swirl of raspberry in the middle I think.
When I was at my Grandparents house and the ice cream man came along my Grandad was always the first one out…..and he would look out for the van if he was late. Grandad loved his ice creams.
We don’t see them so often now, but there are a few about.
Does the ice cream van come down your street ?

Yes
But it is expensive and it doesn't sell cigs like they used to

Yes, they are expensive now ….last summer we were in the arboretum with the Grandkids and we had three ice creams and one lolly and it came to £12…..disgraceful.
The Mister has been known to pop to Tesco and get a box of Magnum for just over £4 and that served us all.
Can’t comment on the other things as never needed to buy them.

Well I would t be paying that what you paid..
I would have told them not to be silly.
Magnum are good
But don't buy the Vegan Magnum
We can get them at £1 for four

@Ineeddentures I wouldn’t have paid it but The Mister likes to treat us …..it’s not often …like i say …Tesco is just down the road .

We don't have it here, but we still have ice cream vendors circling around the village... But they don't have a van.

No, not here in the rural area, but yesterday in the city, I saw an ice cream truck across from a playground.

@traceyjayne I usually got a mivvi. No ice cream van in my street - mostly persons of mature years live around here, but I remember well the excitement of listening out for the ‘poke man’ as we called him.

There was an ice cream truck that would drive through my neighborhood when I first moved in to my house in 1989. Then it disappeared for 30 years. I saw the truck in the driveway of a neighbor. He was restoring the truck. Two years ago, he started making the rounds through the neighborhood.
The treats are more expensive but I grab something every so often.
