Day 2 of our Singapore trip was all about the city’s most iconic spots — and lots of walking! We started the day at Merlion Park for the classic tourist moment. Even if you’ve seen it in photos a hundred times, there’s something special about standing right there, seeing the Merlion with the city skyline behind it. It’s one of those “yes, I’m really here” moments. From there, we walked along the bay toward Marina Bay Sands. The view during the walk was beautiful — the water, the skyline, the clean and open walkways. It’s amazing how Singapore blends modern design with calm, open public spaces. By afternoon, we made it to Gardens by the Bay, one of the highlights of the whole trip. We explored the domes earlier, but this time we stayed for the evening show. We found a spot at Supertree Grove, lay down on the grass, and waited. Then, as the sun set, the trees lit up and the musical light show began. It was stunning. Giant trees glowing and changing colors in sync with music — it felt like something out of a dream. For a few minutes, everything just paused. People stopped talking, and everyone just looked up in awe. It was peaceful, magical, and definitely worth the wait. That night walk from the Merlion to Gardens by the Bay turned out to be one of the most memorable parts of the trip.

The light show was interesting because it featured retro music, which is similar to the music of my time, so I could relate to the rhythm. They say they change the theme from time to time to add variety and keep up with the times.

@rsa101 I don't listen to music so that part wouldn't have mattered to me. I would have enjoyed seeing the lights, though.

Why not go for it while you're still physically capable? This is what I'm doing after 25 years of working and raising a family. I can now relish the results of my labor.

We've had a couple of short trips away just in WA but we find we clock up a lot of steps in a day. I'm sure you would have covered some miles too.
