Do you still recall your painful past? What for?

The present serves as the shadow of our past, a mortal past that doesn't like to separate from us. In our waking moment when we're alone, the shadow of the past continues to flash its scene, where we feel broken and helpless.
Today and in the coming years, the shadow of the past remains fresh, but it will gradually fade because the heart refuses to remember; it's only the memory eager to peep to tell the brain never to think again what was already buried and rotten.

That's a beautifully written reflection, but I believe it's also important to recognize that holding on to the shadow of the past for too long—especially when it no longer affects your present—can quietly poison your peace. While memories may insist on being seen, they don’t have to be entertained forever. If the heart has already chosen to let go, let the mind follow. Healing doesn't mean forgetting; it means allowing yourself to live fully now, without being anchored to what no longer serves you.

@cacay1 The bad experiences of the past may not be forgotten, as they often serve as reminders that resurface from time to time. These reminders can help us reflect on our mistakes and use them as lessons to improve our present actions. Mistakes are opportunities for growth, teaching us valuable lessons to avoid repeating them in both the present and the future.

@rsa101, exactly, the past sweet and sour can serve as lesson, but it's the bad past that keeps on shadowing the present especially in terms of finances. The past could be a regretting period in the present, if money is wasted during young age, no savings. The person might be more on enjoy now and never mind if regret later. And when his old age comes and broke, that's the time he regrets the most. He may be remorseful, but he cannot anymore repair his broken past.
