Pieces of my childhood

We did not have a lot of fancy furniture growing up, but if mom could select it, it usually was quality.
The two small bookcases I moved yesterday were some that I believe my parents had before I was born. I have memories of them when I was about three and a half or four years old. So over sixty years old.
These are the most solidly made shelves I have ever encountered. Certainly they are not like the assemble yourself particle board or pressed wood pieces of today.
Looking around I probably have more pieces of my childhood here and there It is a connection, maybe even a lifeline to that younger self.

Mom got antique furniture from her parents when she bought our farm/farmhouse from them with the money they gave her as a bridal gift. (I don't know which of my brothers took it when mom passed away.) Everything in our house are things I bought while Pretty was growing up... It's all good furniture but none of it is antique.

My parents bought cheap second-hand furniture. My brother still has it. It's 50+ years old now.
