One of the financial institutions with which I have invested a modest sum has made the news today, having been hit with a £21,000,000 fine. Its offence was that it didn’t properly check the addresses of people wanting to open accounts. Some rascals were able to open accounts under the addresses of the British Prime Minister and the King. Yes, that King, not the one reposing in Graceland.
Also of note is the fact that while the museum housing the Bayeux tapestry (which is next door to the nursing home in which my brother lives) is closed for renovations, the 70 metre long tapestry will be accommodated in England, whose defeat in 1066 the tapestry celebrates.
I didn’t go to see the tapestry when I was in Bayeux in June - I don’t appreciate needle craft - and I’m certainly not going to London to see it. Just saying.

Hopefully your funds are all still safe and secure.

@looeyville They are - I checked. I only put £200 into the investment account. Next day the value dropped by 14%. That was back in February and it’s taken now to recover. It’s an account whereby I can invest up to £20,000 as year (like that’s going to happen!) and the profit is not taxed.

Did you get a fine for opening accounts using the addresses of the king and Prime Minister? And did you get your deposited money back from those accounts?

So bad about the financial institution. Funny about the subject matter of the tapestry.
