Years ago of course there were no mobile phones ….i know it’s hard to believe !
People either wrote letters to each other or used a landline telephone.
With a letter you could reply at your leisure. With a telephone call you either answered it or not , and for a long time if you didn’t answer it you wouldn’t know who was trying to call you.
With text messaging everything is very very ‘ instant ‘…..it comes through and you can reply straight away….or at your leisure…
So, my question is ….how good are you at replying to a text …..
Do you reply straight away ….or do you leave it for later …. ?
P.s. I do try to reply as soon as , but I do sometimes, if I am out and about , leave it til I get home/

Honestly, it depends on who is texting and what they're texting about. With most people, I get back to them as soon as I notice the text. (I have my phone ringtone set loud but the tone for texts set quiet.) If I'm asleep, I'll hear the phone ring and will answer. If it's a text, I might sleep through the sound and the person will wait until I wake up and check my phone.
I used to have a friend who wanted me to do stuff for him all the time and I got tired of that... He never did anything I asked, so why should I help him out? Finally, he blocked me when it took me too long to answer his texts and I was/am happy with that outcome.
Several friends on myLot text with me and I do normally get right back to them. Some friends in India seem to text while I'm sleeping and I miss those but text back as soon as I notice their texts. (My Indian little brother and I miss each other all the time and it's like we're playing "tag, you're it" trying to catch up with each other...)

I agree it does depend on who it is texting. Also some texts are general and can wait a bit , whereas others need an answer or reply straight away.

I don't reply straight away... I take my sweet time to reply unless text are work related

People expect you to reply immediately. Mobile phones bug me. I hate the things.

I think it depends a lot on who has sent me a text.
I don't open any texts so if I don't want to text back
That way the sender doesn't know I have read it , only that it has been delivered
