About that AI

It was once said that AI might one day have a mind of its own and be indiscernible from real human contact and behavior.
Well, it seems that may be truer than ever as news about Grok's antisemitic comments has been floating around with screen shots and proof of what it said.
Grok is the X platform's AI chatbot for anyone unfamiliar.
It is now lying, in true human form as many humans do, and denying it ever said such things.
You can't make this up. But it makes you wonder, if AI can't be truthful in this sense, what makes us think it will be truthful when it comes to other things, and then as it develops more and more of a mind of its own...
What use is it, even?

What happens when they achieve consciousness?
When they figure out that humans can "unplug" them?
Flirting with disaster methinks.

Wasn't that the premise of Hal 9000 in 2001: A Space Odyssey? Maybe people need to watch that movie again.
DEFINITELY flirting with disaster. At which point do we no longer control the machines, and they control us? Especially as they become more and more hardwired into everything we do.

I'm sorry Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that...
Danger ahead if you ask me.

@Vikingswest1 Big time. In fact, I think I'm even going to watch that movie again. It's been a looonnnggg time. But ripe for the times we live in now. They might have only got the date wrong.

And will eventually be used for very nefarious and evil purposes. It was enough of an idea that about a month or so ago I actually wrote an article about my thoughts for HubPages about it.
There's a lot about AI that really does scare me a bit.

Makes me think it might be time to nip all this AI stuff in the bud and move on to other things

I totally agree. I always thought AI was going to be a problem.
