That is what I told the Bank Manager when he announced that the bank account that was applied for was finally activated. This kind of delay is never heard of
It was almost two and a half months ago that an application was made. This was for a Charitable Trust The Head Office of the Bank is the culprit to have taken so long to get it activated.
The Government of India has made rules that they said need to be followed and whatever they are I wonder why those rules delayed the activation
I came to know through the grape vine that Chritable Trusts these days are used to get money laundered. That is OK for those bigwigs. We are a small fry and we have no chance whatsoever to indulge in money laundering
They could have easily gone through past records and finished the process may be in a wekk.
Atleast it is now activated.

It was not so a few years ago when I had opened my own Trust. This was a bank account in a Trust that alroeady existed.

The new rule I understand is while collecting donations from abroad. They have to be routed through the main Bank
I agree with you about the tax burden but one wrong does not make another wrong, right, sadly

@allknowing True I agree with you too. Even the finance minister doesn't have the answer when one guy questioned her. They know how to avoid it but turning around the answer to be on point.

Haha, I can just picture your reaction when the Bank Manager finally announced the account was activated — probably a mix of relief and “about time!” Two and a half months is a record-breaking delay for something that should’ve taken a week, tops.
Apparently, the Head Office was tangled in red tape, all thanks to new government rules meant to prevent money laundering. Ironically, those rules seem to catch the small fry like you in the net, while the big fish swim on by without a splash.
But hey, at least it’s finally done! You can now focus on the actual charitable work — not chasing signatures and approvals. Maybe celebrate with a tea… no laundering involved!
