Even when you have lots of things to do. You have to live in the moment. You have to have some relaxing time. Some time to enjoy your life. Remember that you can not get back the time that you wasted and did not spend with your children doing fun things. When I worked overnight and my children were in school. I went to sleep so I would be awake when they came home from school . Even if we went to the park or to the pond than the children were with me spending time with me. When I had my days off. We would go roller skating, swimming or go to the children's museum which was free with the first three children. With the last three it was not free anymore . If there was a good movie playing we would go to the movies. Or rent some movies and have pizza night. When you have children you do not want to lose any of the time that you have with them. Even a walk to 7/11 for a hotdog and big gulp was fun for my children

Children seem to grow up overnight - then they leave the nest in pursuit of their own dreams. Good advice, spend as many precious moments with them while they are around.

I totally agree. We did a lot with the kids when they are little. They are 20 and 16 now . . . on the verge of flying . . . so we are squeezing in as much family time as we can these days - time goes fast !

I spent a lot of time with my kids but as I get older and they aren't around as often, I wish I would have spent more time with them. I was very busy when they were young and now that I am older, they have very busy lives. It's like the Harry Chapin song the Cats in the Cradle

Yes, I agree, and I am happy that they are still demonstrative of their love despite being adults now.

My dad was the editor for a Latvian newspaper and he had Thursdays off and mom worked in Manhattan, So on his day off dad took me where-ever I wanted to go like a kids movie or the zoo etc,

Such good advice here. Kids will remember the time parents spent with them, not so much what they bought them.

Yes, it is good to give quality time to our children, and when the children are grown up, they should remember to give back some quality time to their parents too. I often feel that I should have spent more time with my old mother, but I was always so busy, tied up in my own pursuits. I regret this now, that she has gone, as when I was young, she gave so much of her time to me.

I was aware my time with my son was precious as children grow fast and leave the nest. I cherished every moment that replays in my mind often and ready on recall.

You have 6 children? God bless you. I felt the same way about time with my hubby. Even with 58 years, I felt it wasn't long enough.
