The squalor of flying.

All flying is horrible flying. Today’s annoyances were several. The airport was crowded. The “coffee” tasted like bilge, though bilge I have never tasted except in the form of wretched beverages. When our flight was called we were processed then herded into a holding pen with insufficient seats for the number of passengers, and this after having to queue in a stuffy stair well. Boarding took ages because even seasoned travellers seem prone to faffing about in the aisle, trying to stuff bags of inordinate size into small overhead bins, and sitting in the wrong seat and having to be moved. I groaned out loud when a woman with a baby sat right in front of me, and I dreaded the wailing I assumed would last for the duration of the flight. But no!!! Baby slept - obviously heavily sedated. And it was a very noisy flight with much guffawing and loud, uninteresting conversations going on all around me. But it’s over and I’m in Manchester, my daughter has just thrown up but we’re in the best apartment imaginable. How was your day?

Compared to yours? Boring. It's just a little after lunch though. Maybe things will be more interesting later.

How long was the flight? It's really not "classy" like it used to be.

It's those younger generations eroding the fabric of the rules we set for them, lolol.

My day was very quiet and restful... I managed to make some pasta and Cheddar cheese with diced turkey in it. Quite tasty! (I'm not seeing very well so didn't want to get adventurous with food this afternoon. I'm sure Pretty will make something to go with the turkey pasta for later.) My laptop has been reading to me while I took naps off and on. I'm glad you made it Manchester okay and hope your visit with your daughter goes well.

I'm sorry your daughter threw up. Was it from the plane trip? At least you're now in a nice apartment.

@judyev Daughter doesn’t quite know when to stop eating. Eyes are bigger than her stomach. Once the puking has relieved the congestion in her tummy she’s ready for more.

I am sorry that your daughter is not feeling well but I do think it is good that you are in a good apartment. I don't fly, I prefer my feet on the ground. How ever I would not complain about a baby crying if I did. They cannot say what is wrong. They are not born with an automatic inner dictionary. I have taken busses and trains for long trips and I helped parents care for their babies. My mother told me that when I was a baby went did go on an airplane and I cried the whole time because my ears were popping the stewardas told my mother. It is hard on the parents too!

I no longer want to fly, I have anxiety issues and your kind of experience would have made me totally ill, Glad you made it to your destination safe and sound,

Glad you arrived safely. Had monthly brunch with about 10 of my friends. Then two of us walked around checking out the vendors at our annual Curbstone Festival for a bit. After that, I came home and wrote a poem.
