Where we left things in my last post that was MIL was going to let us help her and wanted to move into the senior apartments facility. We had told her that the millionaire family friend was NOT going to pay her rent for the rest of her life. That was Wednesday. We don't know exactly what she did, but on Thursday she went to work for the millionaire family friend and we think she just flat out asked him to "take care of her" for the rest of her life by paying her rent, etc. We don't really know. All we know is that we got a text from her at noon saying, "Family Friend is going to take care of it. Don't send in that application!!! Will call you tonight" Well, she never called. And hubby is rightfully unhappy so he hasn't called her either. So we'll see if she shows up to meet us for lunch Monday as planned or whether she's mad at us and is a no-show and we'll find out what the heck the millionaire family friend did or didn't promise to do. It's all so exhausting with her. She's a gold-digger.

Who knows if the family friend actually did anything or if she’s lying or imagining it.

You're exactly right. I guess we won't know until Monday.

She's as much of an exasperation as cousin #2 is. I don't envy you.

Can your husband call the family friend to get the scoop of what's going on? She really sounds as if she's off the rails somewhat and needs someone to make the decisions.

I still think it might be useful to contact the friend and sort it all out. You don't know what she's telling him. It could be anything.
