Well, the Salad is Done

I decided to make the salad this morning instead of last night figuring it would be better a bit "fresher." Sometimes a salad gets a bit too soggy overnight, and it wasn't that much to prepare it anyway. This is the St. Louis salad I mentioned before with broccoli and cauliflower, onions, bacon and a sauce mixture of mayonnaise, plain Greek yogurt and Parmesan cheese. It didn't call for it, but I added just a touch of sugar to the sauce just to give it a little extra sweetness. I gave it a taste, and I believe it is a success. Hopefully the fam I will be sharing it with enjoys it when we bring it later over to my niece and her husband's house where we will be joining with my sister and brother-in-law.

I love salads, and I'm sure the salad you made was absolutely delicious, but all I kept thinking about as I read your ingredients was farting, bloating and gas. Broccoli, cauliflower, may, yogurt and cheese all give me gas! lol

@porwest I would have definitely cleared a building if I had eaten that salad! But, like you said, we’re going to keep that on the down low.

lol. I cannot speak to any distance anyone might have kept after the fact. Let's just keep that on the down-low, shall we? lol

I don´t put dressings to salads because they get soggy. I dress them just before serving them.

But then they don't get a chance to marinate. I'll do that with a garden salad. But something like this or a potato salad or pasta salad? I think it's better when it is marinated.

@porwest I add some vinegar to a raw cauliflower to marinate it. And I mix a still warm cut up potato with some oil and later I add the rest of the dressings.

Sounds good. I also like a pasta salad with veggies and dressed with a zesty Italian dressing.

That's good too. There's one my sister makes with artichokes in it. Man, that's good. No pasta in it, though. But it uses zesty Italian.

It's really easy to make and I think it turned out great. We didn't take much home.

@Ineeddentures As it goes with our family, we always make way too much food, and so people tend to take something home with them.

That reminds me that we have cauliflower in the fridge. I have never tasted cauliflower in a salad before. Perhaps later I will make one. I guess I can make one without the broccoli.

We hold off with the dressings until just before serving too.

It got to marinate just enough. It worked out. But I put the "dressing" in hours before we took it with us to the party.
