Yay! Good for her! Not so good for me. She's the one who has been hooking me up with all of the class coverages for the past 2 years. She is still in the main office but now she is the senior secretary. Someone from the guidance office got moved into her position. I texted her congratulations and then followed it up with "you'd better put in a good word for me!" She said she already did. She has a short list of teachers who will cover literally anything--gym class, in school suspension, cafeteria duty, etc. I am on that list. I will happily give up both my prep and lunch if it means earning an extra almost $90 that day. I don't care. I'll eat my lunch on duty, during a coverage, or during one of my own classes. The students don't care. So it will be interesting to see how the coverage situation works out this coming year. The guidance secretary at another high school who threw every homebound she could at me said she was giving up that duty so who knows how that will work out either. Hopefully she put a good word in for me with whoever is taking it over. Hey that's how she found me--someone else said I'll take anything I'm qualified to do.

My certification is teacher of biological science so I can tutor biology. Earth science, environmental science, anatomy & physiology, and forensic science don't require a specific cert so I can do those too. (not that it is necessarily easy for me) She offered me chemistry a few times but I'm not certified for it nor would I even attempt it at this point. I'm 25 years out of college and chemistry. You're lucky I still remember Avogadro's number!

@NJChicaa — 867-5309, right? (6.0221415 × 1023 mol-1, and yes I looked it up. I can barely remember F=mg from physics!!)

@FourWalls I can tell you 6.02 x 10 to the 23rd power, slope is y = mx +b, and torque is F x D. And of course the Pythagorean theorm. That's about it.

Congratulations to her. I'm sure you will get a lot of covers this fall.

I hope this doesn't impact on your earnings but it doesn't sound as though it will.
