So, the secretary from work messaged last week to say Occupational Health would be ringing me ….nothing to worry about she said, it’s normal for long term absences.
Ok I thought ….and I waited for the call.
Earlier this morning I got a call from them ….to arrange a meeting by phone tomorrow ….
Can I be available at 9am ?
I wanted to say …” honey, I’m off sick….I don’t even get up til ten thirty “
But of course I didn’t….i just humbly agreed.
So now I have to set my alarm to take a phone call at the crack of dawn ! lol.
They said they would send a confirmation text ….
They did this ….and an email too ….my they are busy….
The email said to allow 45 to 60 minutes ….never mentioned that when they phoned. A phone conversation yes, but an hour ! What will we find to talk about !
Anyway, I have never had one of these before so I have no idea what the nice lady is going to say or ask ….
It is the last week of term so I am off until at least September ….my situation could change in those 7 weeks !
Wish me luck.

I always hated it when management called after a lengthy absence from work... It always seemed like it wasn't good news.
I hope your meeting goes well... Maybe they're offering you a huge raise
and the phone call will only take long enough for you to accept the raise and thank them... You never know.

I wish it were you doing the call …a raise would be great . I think more ….how will I cope when I go back ….
Since being off they have decided that my role will be completely different when I return ….im not sure they can do that ….surely you should back to the role you had before you went off sick.
Don’t see how I can say if I think I can cope or not if I’m being expected to undertake a different role !

@Traceyjayne I believe teachers here are guaranteed the same job they had before if they are tenured but I'm not a teacher so I'm not positive of that. I know in my last job, I was guaranteed the same job again if I was off for any length of time... The company/bosses always tried to make people worry, though... I never understood that. Happy employees work better and harder, for the most part, than worried employees. It seemed like they were cutting off their nose to spite their face...

@DaddyEvil the situation is difficult as I arranged to undertake my current role with the Executive Head….ive been in this role 6 years, although at the workplace for 11 years. The Executive Head is leaving, so I feel there is not much I can do about the change in role. I think Occupational Health will be told I have to go where the children’s needs are ! The fact that I have an arrangement, am good at my job, get fantastic results and work well with outside agencies….and work with children throughout the entire school, I think will not be taken into consideration.

That’s good, I’m pleased he is recovering well.
It is taking a while but, yes, there is hope , I know my arm will heal ….
