It raining since almost 20 days in my city. Heavy rain today from 4 a.m in the morning inundation many parts of the city. The city railway station parking space is flooded with rain water. The cause is bad drainage system that are neither cleaned regularly nor constructed to drain out rain water. Illegal encroachment is another reason. Encroachment should be removed from where rain water flows. Some residents have build houses over the drain this is just causing severe problems when it rains heavily. Thank God the top officials of municipality have taken note of it and are working to clean drains and drain out rain water.

Some drains were cleaned yesterday. I don't know what they are doing today.

@rakski The city is dry today. However on Monday things were in a dangerous state.

I think it's more than 2 weeks now since these rains. They might have subsided by now. Isn't it?

@aninditasen Yes. After incessant rains, mostly it takes time before the weather clears. You can call the cloudy and drizzling weather as a hangover.

Sorry to read this. With goverment cut backs the same happens here when rivers rise they have not cleared the river silt so it floods on the flood plains where they have permitted people to build homes. I hope they clear the sewers fast.

In India neither it's actually the drains that are not cleaned timely and properly. Desilting the rivers is regular as lot of construction work keeps going on in India. Moreover the municipality rarely makes arrangements for rain water to flow into the river.

Rain is acceptable unless it doesn't cause water logging and flood. People have been marooned.

We have not rain for last ten days. Before that we had a heavy downpour, but after that we have had drizzling only, that too lasts barely for five or six minutes. Now the level of humidity is going up.

Its's good that your city officials are taking action and not just ignoring the problem. We've had very heavy rains in different parts of the US and flooding has been excessive.
