Do you have a cheerleader?

This is my Aunt Lana. This photo was taken a few months ago on her 80th birthday. Her daughter threw a party for her (only aunts and girl cousins/nieces) with the theme of Lana’s youth, the sock hop. (The shoes were a gift from her daughter.) She’s so amazing. Her back is terrible, but inoperable (her body doesn’t tolerate pain killers either), she’s had breast cancer, and she lost her husband 20 years ago, followed by her son, ten years ago. Still, she smiles and encourages and loves on everyone. She has been my biggest supporter outside of my late mother. She’s my cheerleader.
Who is your cheerleader? And if it’s a pet, that’s just fine too!

Your Aunt hardly looks 80. That smile says it all
I am forever in the attitude of gratitude and that thought cheers me no end.

She looks like a young lass. That's a great picture. I really don't have a cheerleader anymore. My husband was my cheerleader and our dogs.

Oh, she is lovely and certainly doesn't look 80! What a fun party that must have been for everyone.
I had one main cheerleader my entire life, until 2010. It was my aunt, and I was named after her. She wasn't able to have her own children (she married a man who had lost his wife and had twin daughters, and she raised them) and my sister and I were very close to her, although I do have to say I know I was her favorite! She was my encourager, she called almost every day, she was a bright light...and she knew my heart and I knew hers. She was also pretty much the mother I never had. Her door was always wide open for me, and mine was for her. When her health started to deteriorate, it was hard, I made so many trips there to help and finally had to settle on a place for her. It was nearly a 3 hour drive one way, and I went every week. I couldn't take care of her myself, although I wanted to--she had to be lifted from wheelchair to bed, a different chair, bathroom, etc. and I couldn't manage it safely, not to mention it would have taken her away from her husband, who couldn't take care of her, either. But she remained steadfast and happy, always cheered me on, and loved me unconditionally my entire life. I was so lucky to have her for the time I did.
I am so glad you have your Aunt Lana, Amber.

Dale's a most wonderful husband, but he's too much of a realist to be a cheerleader!
Your aunt is beautiful, I can't believe she's 80! You're so blessed to have her in your life.

As for me, I don’t have a personal cheerleader, but I’d say people like your aunt, who uplift others despite their own hardships, are the spirit of encouragement in the world.
