Use of ovens in our daily lives. To what extent?

While many people use ovens these days to cook food, it proves to be one of the modern ways of cuisine as well. Though there are the upsides of cooking in an oven, some people say food cooked in ovens should not be consumed regularly and in large quantities. Now I don't know why they say like that. But the pros of ovens are more in number than the cons. Some of them can be cooking gets healthier and you can cook in large numbers, etc. apart from retaining the nutrients. So, is it true that using ovens these days is better than the traditional cooking methods?

@abhi_bangal NO, they are used all year but here in the South in the summer it is really too hot to use them then. You heat up your whole house which isn't needed.

@snowy22315 Oh I see. Yes, ovens generate a lot of heat. And in summer, especially, it'd unbearable.

Ohhhh. I am hearing this for the first time that even ovens are seasonally used. Is there any particular or any scientific reason behind choosing a couple of seasons only?

What is the ‘ traditional ‘ cooking method if not the oven ? We tend to use the air fryer instead of the oven for about 98% of our cooking.

It's the stove with LPG - that's liquefied petroleum gas. Ovens came later, at least for us. And if you want to go back in time before LPG, then there is the wooden sticks used as bonfire where our ancestors used to cook food.

I rarely used my oven. But it's good when you need large quantities. I will have to find out later on.

Ovens are sufficient for a family of 3 to 4 people to cook one time. Is this considered a large quantity? Or how do you look at it?

What do you mean by “traditional methods”? Cooking in ovens has gone on for a long time. Here the air fryer has taken over a lot of the work, because it’s quicker and cheaper. I try to use a slow cooker as much as possible, but you need to be patient, because it’s slow.

Forget about everything else, even time isn't the same for everyone simultaneously in this world. What I mean to say about "traditional methods" is using something like wooden sticks, etc for cooking food. Because a few equipment have reached some people doesn't mean everyone has become advanced. There is still some population that uses these traditional methods. I think you are not aware of that. That is why I used that term.

So it sounds like an oven isn't a time-saving gadget these days.

@cherigucchi Yes. I'm talking about microwave oven only. So is there any difference between oven and microwave oven?

@LindaOHio Looks like Meals on Wheels is a service there. Sounds good if there are people who cannot cook for various reasons.

It means when you have to consume your already prepared food for the second time, right? So do you prepare your food on the stoves only?

@abhi_bangal Due to my limited mobility I can no longer cook or bake. I get Meals on Wheels for lunch Monday through Friday; and for the other meals I either eat the sandwiches that my husband's cousin prepares for me or I eat a frozen dinner.

Definitely. I don't think all foods need to be put into the oven to cook. However some of them get the best results when roasted or baked in an oven.
