I just finished downloading 10 new ebooks from favorite authors and uploaded them to my Kindle Cloud. I'll be reading them on the Kindle app on my phone.
I got the ebooks from a site that offers free eBooks. This is the site link if you're interested. I don't get anything from you going to the site or downloading eBooks from the site after making an account with them.
This is a legal site. I hope you enjoy it.

I do not know when it was the last time I sat with a novel or any other book. Ever since Internet made its spresence in my life I am satisfied with what it offers for the time I can spend.
You seem to be a voracious reader. I used to be one in the good old days

My Kindle Cloud shows it has over 9,000 eBooks in it and I've read almost all of them. I read, as long as I can see, any time I'm bored doing other things.

I hardly ever read nowadays. I actually had my eyes checked already — the doctor said they’re perfectly fine. But since around 2020, I started seeing this weird shadow outline when I look at things. It’s not really double vision, more like a faint overlap or ghosting effect. And up to now it still persists, and it gets worse when my eyes are tired from too much screen time or lack of sleep. I don't know where that is coming from, eye doctor said the eye itself has no problems. I don't know anymore what else is there, why my vision on the left eye has this overlap, ghosting effect.
I even got new progressive lenses a few months ago, but it didn’t help much, its still there though I notice its less pronounced with the glasses. Reading has become really difficult, so I just stopped. I do have audiobooks, but ironically, I barely have time to listen to them either.
I checked the site you mentioned — it looks great! I saw Atomic Habits and Ikigai there. Funny enough, I have those ebooks too... but I never got around to finishing them. And now, with how things are, it’s even more unlikely I ever will.

@pitsipeahie I have every other site I use in darkness mode but myLot won't let me shift it to a darkness mode.
I think you should ask your regular doctor for a recommendation to a good eye specialist. The one you saw obviously doesn't know anything or he would have done more checking and found some way to help you.
Muscles around the eyes do get tired and your eye will dry out if you use a screen for reading but there are medicated eye drops that really can help with that. They soothe your eyes and calm the eye muscles, making reading easier.

What app do you use to read your eBooks? On the Kindle app, I have the background set to black and the text to white since that is easier on my eyes than black text on white background like on myLot. myLot hurts my eyes.
I'm sorry you're having trouble with your eyes. Did your doctor mention anything about floaters in your eyes? Once in a while, if my eyes are really tired or if they feel sore and I rub them, then I get floaters that annoy me for a few days up to a week... Floaters go away by themselves but are really annoying while they're there.
It's a really good site. I've used it since we moved into this house almost 8 years ago. (This house feels small compared to the house we lived in before. It's less than half the area and we don't have room here for paper and ink books...)

The doctor didn’t mention anything about floaters—just said the muscles around my eyes were getting tired? He didn't say anything about doing tests or seeing a neuro or other doctors either. Haven't followed up since then. I don’t have a Kindle. —I used to read from my iPad and keep it on ‘eye comfort’ mode to make it easier on the eyes. I get what you mean though—white backgrounds like on myLot can really strain the eyes after a while! I have my pc automatically shift to night light though.

@DaddyEvil Yes, that is the best option for you. I read them and then put them on Ebay and sell them. It's a revolving book shelf here. I came home from Lafayette from babysitting one weekend last year with 3 big boxes of books. They were all of interest to me and the seller told me to take all 3 boxes for something like $5. Sold. My hubby wasn't happy. lol. My oldest daughter loves to go to garage sales and we always hit them up early on Saturday mornings. I'm going to miss that in her area, but have a new area now to explore. She finishes moving out next Friday. And keys will be turned in on time. Yay.

@kareng I used to give all the paper/ink books I didn't want to keep to the local public library. The ladies running it at the time told me I donated more books than the city bought for them.
Books that I wanted to keep are now stored in our garage. The local library stopped accepting donations and there are none of the little book shelters here like we read about in other cities.
I'm glad your daughter will be out on time and hope things go well for her.

I prefer real paper and ink books but we don't have room in this house for them... I have over 9,000 eBooks in my Kindle Cloud. I carry my library around in my pocket all the time.

You're very welcome.
The Kindle app works on any computer, laptop, tablet or smart phone, if that helps you. When you set up the Kindle app, you're making an account with Amazon.com if you don't already have one. Any eBooks you get from Amazon go directly into your Kindle Cloud. eBooks you find on that link have to be loaded into your Kindle Cloud but that's easy after you download an app called "Send to Kindle."
If you ever need help with it, let me know and I'll walk you through what you need to do.

You're very welcome!
It's handy to carry your library of books around in your pocket.
Even when I can't see to drive to the library to borrow books, I can still get new ones if I run out of anything to read.

I have a membership on book bub but rarely use it. I didn't like paying for books I can get for free on the site I listed.
I have memberships on most free ebook sites online. I do get books from several other sites if I can't find them on that link.

@JordanLader Yup! Since I retired, I only bother with sites that let me have free books now.
Amazon gives a lot of free books, as well as free ebooks. The link I posted is all free.

@DaddyEvil I can get some free books on book bub but I usually end up paying. I get my hard copy first then just wait for the ebook to either go on sale or I just can't hold the hard copy.

Some of your friends or family might like to get free ebooks from that site and read them, too.

I understand... You might copy that link anyway. Someone in your family might appreciate reading free books. They have them in many languages. (I'm not sure they have your native language books but it's always possible.)

That's cool that there are places that serve as what amounts to "online libraries" where you can read books. I love that about Archive, where you can read old (I mean OLD) books for free.
Enjoy reading!!

I have an account with the Internet Archive and have offered that link here before... Surprising to me, not many people seemed interested.
Thank you. I always do.

I read a lot, as long as I can see and the Kindle app makes it easier to read. I can increase the size of the text and change the background to black and the text to white on my phone, which makes it easier on my eyes.

I understand... I prefer real paper/ink books but this house is small so we packed up my large library of real books and packed them away in our garage. Carrying my library of ebooks around on my phone makes life a LOT easier. I always have my phone on me so, if I get bored standing in a line somewhere, I have a good book at my fingertips.

If only I had the time to read. My Mom buys books from a store in town that usually does a good deal on them and when she finishes them she passes them on to me and I give them to a friend on our caravan site. Neither Mom or I have or want a kindle as we prefer actual books. Our methods are different to yours but the love of books is the same.
By the way. Which author is it ?

I understand... A lot of older people switch to reading on the Kindle app because you can change the text size to huge if you want and the background color to black and the text to white which is easier on older eyes. myLot hurts my eyes so much with their white background and black text.
I have a lot of "favorite" authors. I read, usually, a book a day.
I'm currently reading the newest book that Piers Anthony published this year.
I also have all the books that Sir Terry Pratchett published. They're favorites and I've read them several times.
