The War of Pools Carries On

If you wanted to know, the war is still on with our pool. It's getting to be a lighter shade of green. I think. Or I'm just trying to convince myself. It's been a hot area of contention for both the wife and I. She wants to drain it. I am considering bulldozing it. Dynamite has also been considered—luckily, they don't sell it on Amazon. I've searched it.
I'm trying to keep a good sense of humor about it. Such as hearing Joe Jackson's song from the 80s, "Is She Really Going Out with Him." I have re-written the lyrics. Hell, I might even put it to the notes and record it.
Sort of a Weird Al take of sorts, hey?
Dirty water's not doin' the ga-reening to my pool. From the testing I'm doin' says my water is good. Look on the strip (there), all my chemicals are cool. Still colored green, strug-glin', but doin' what I'm told.
Will my water ever be blue again? What's it really gonna take to make it right? Will my water ever be blue again? 'Cause if this pool ain't blue soon, there's someone gonna snap around here.
I will keep you posted on the progress, or non-progress, however you want to classify it. I think one of our member friends here on myLot, @BACONSTRIPSXXX, works for United Rentals. Maybe they rent bulldozers? I might get in touch with him soon.
Will they deliver?
Worst case, I still have some contacts from a few quarries I sold to before I retired. I am sure they might have a stick or two of dynamite they can mysteriously lose track of.
Wish me luck.

Sorry you're still having issues. Maybe another approach can help you earn a profit.
Great lyrics btw.

That's why we never got a pool. Good luck with it. Funny you mentioned Joe Jackson. One of my favorites is his Steppin' Out.

@porwest I have the extended version playing in the background. It runs for 12:49 minutes. Love it.

@LindaOHio I don't know that I have ever heard the extended version.

It goes with the territory, for whatever it's worth. And trust me, there are times when I question whether it's actually worth it. lol
Love Joe Jackson, and that was one of my favorite songs by him as well. He always seemed like an awkward rock start. Nonetheless, he made great music.

It seems funny but there's a problem of maintaining it. Are you not hiring someone to clean your pool?

We don't hire anyone. Normally, it's fairly easy to "maintain" the blue. But it does turn green every once in a while if something goes off and the algae is allowed to form. Then you have to fight with it a bit to get it back. It's a process.

@porwest It's a routine to say so. Do you put chlorine on the pool water?

@Nakitakona Oh yes. Of course. We generally monitor the chlorine, alkalinity, PH and cyanuric acid levels.

As a 20+ year veteran in the aquatic/pool industry, you should have just called me for help!
...of course my first word of advice would have been to get rid of the pool altogether. They are nothing but money pits!

@porwest All you need to do is superchlorinate. But it involves formulas and math, so not really an easy task. You don't need fancy chemicals that the pool places try to sell you, regular chlorine will do the trick. But you also have to keep the pH balanced properly and your calcium levels in check. Tri-chlor or di-chlor work well as an oxidizing agent, but even liquid chlorine (sodium hypochlorite) will eventually work.
