Sadness.

My most excellent 11-year-old student Gunnar did come to his make-up lesson yesterday. Instead, I gave a double lesson to his younger brother, Ankur. Ankur actually did quite well.
Why did Gunnar not make it to his lesson yesterday? Because he is in his bed crying, and refuses to leave his bed.
Their 15-year-old dog passed away Wednesday evening, according to Ankur..That dog would have been a part of Gunnar's life since he was born.
I hope I get to see him soon. Maybe I'll help him write a sad song for his doggie. We all grieve in our own ways.
Have you ever considered the possibility that a part of why we have family pets is to familiarize our children with the process of grieving?
Photo is of my late horse, who was with me for 23 years. I cried for days after she died.

It is very hard to lose a pet. Especially the first one you have known and loved. I feel for him so much.

That is so sad. I had a cocker spaniel that was my pal when I was a kid. She was born on the same day I was and lived to be 13. I know how he feels.

@TheHorse Yes every time we've had to have a pet put down, they give us a copy of that poem
