It is hard to argue with a cat

I have said repeatedly, "No more pets after Bruno". No time or money to care for them and I want to travel.
No one told the young male cat on my front porch that. He is white with a black tail and lots of black patches. Bruno told him to leave, and he would not. He is thin, but not famished, as he did not gorge himself on the food I put out.
I left to go do laundry and shop. Bob brought him in the house. He hung out inside until I came back and then he went outside. He is sleeping in the shade in our yard.
If he stays he will be Pedro. Not sure why. If he stays he will need to see a vet and be treated for fleas, etc. And neutered. Bruno does not speak kindly to him, but they are not engaging in contact fighting.
I am pretty certain he is a year old or less.
Let's see if he stays.

We have a lot of neighborhood cats, which means we have an absence of rats and mice.

I see strays regularly. They never come close, or in the house or act like they want to be here. I attribute the lack of rats and mice to the hawks, buzzards and snakes that are around. I am sure the cats also help.

He acts like he wants to. And Bruno is allowing it.

I try to be. Bruno likes to boss me around, and since he belonged to my sister he really attached to me. Pedro just came up on the porch and came in when Bruno wanted out.

Probably. He is fairly polite, and independent to some degree. He asked out during supper and I saw him strolling down the street. I figured he probably begs from the whole neighborhood, but when I went out just now to tell Bob to see if he wanted in he said, "He is already in." So I guess we are the best place.

He seems to need a place. We often see strays, but I feel like maybe this one just got put out and left. He knew he wanted in the house. Most strays do not.

He and Bruno are not fighting. They both go to the same room and lay on their sides in the floor. Not really defensive. Bob says they have even bumped noses. The sooner I get Pedro neutered the better things will be I am sure. Bruno does not seem to have fleas but Pedro has a white nose and you can see flea bites on it.

If Pedro wants to stay he will get the full veterinary treatment and will learn to be a good houseguest. Bob can take care of him or both of them while I work.

Poor baby! If you didn't want to adopt a new little boy, you shouldn't have fed him... Now he thinks it's okay to take over your home, your life and your hubby, apparently.
I hope Pedro is in good shape after he sees the vet. He obviously wanted a home and Bob believed the little beggar would fit right in.
Did you think to pick him up a toy of his own while you were out? You don't want Bruno to get upset if Pedro tries to play with one of his toys.

Bruno does not really play with toys. I have several from over the years. I will fix more cat nip socks for them though.

@DaddyEvil It is funny, they are not interested in what is growing fresh, but the socks can be fun.

Usually strays just wave at me as they pass through my yard and look for rodents. Pedro is definitely of his own mind.

I can relate to what you are saying since my relatives have had to fix female kittens so they do have any more kittens they cause a money strain.

He needs a check up, and initial healthy shots like for rabies and leukemia. He needs flea treatment and Bob says one of his elbows looks sore.

That's the natural reactiom of a domesticated cat for stranger. He is afraid that his territory be taken. But later when that stray cat stay for days or so, they will be friends.

Bruno is a pretty good boy. I know before my sister got him he had spent at least two years in a shelter with other kitty siblings. Having Pedro does not mean Bruno will be left out.
