I saw it years ago and really liked it. For some reason it came into my mind a few weeks ago when my kitten Claire was spayed and was so sad. The phrase "buogiorno principessa" came to mind which loosely translates from Italian to "good morning princess". No clue why that came to my mind but then it reminded me of the movie.
It is about a Jewish family and non-Jewish woman who were taken to a concentration camp during WW2. The father (played by Roberto Begnini) did everything he could to make it seem like a fun trip and a game for his young son. It is really a great movie though it deals with such a tough story in history. It won a few Oscars and well who can forget Begnini jumping up on the chairs when he won?
I've been watching it a lot recently. No particular reason aside from Begnini's humor and all of the "buorgino principessa" mentions for my baby Claire. The idea of a concentration camp is awful but this movie is a masterpiece which is why it won Oscars when it was even a foreign language film.
My pretty floofy cat Claire responds to many names. . . and now she knows I'm talking to her when I say "Buongioro Principessa!"

I heard a lot about the movie when it managed to get some Oscars. I had put it on my watching list but then totally forgot about it. I have not watched it yet. Hope that I can watch it soon.
