This is no way to retire

Some spend money for an easy chair getting ready to retire. And that is not what neither me nor my husband planned to do We shifted to a semi rural town and there my husband got a job and he worked for a while. I designed gardens for builders and for some individuals for a few years. Now I reach out to the needy This poem says it all Retirement Bliss Not Blues When retirement age draws near, There lurks an unknown fear, Of being a nobody……. Once a somebody!! How Faulty this thinking is, When life gets a fresh lease, To do what one really wants, With none to boss with shouts and taunts. Doing things at a tarried pace, No more to rush or race, Stopping by to smell the flowers, Sitting by the sea for hours. Relaxing in ones favourite chair, With no tension, not a care, Doing what one wants to do, With hobbies revived and interests too. Plenty of time to cheer the weary, Share it with the said and dreary, The world needs these mature minds, Among them are some rare finds. Cheer up all you about to retire, The world as you think is not on fire, Move forward with a healthy mind, And happiness, you are sure to find.

Pretty and I have been talking about buying me a new bed... The one I have is wearing out. I bought it when my first wife and I started getting divorced so it's 30 years old. It's too big for just me but I keep my laptop, phone and tablet on one side of it so they're easy to reach when I want to use them. We've been talking about getting me a hospital-type bed that has electrical circuits that will raise and lower the head or foot of the bed to make it more comfortable for me when I sleep. I pointed out that a table by the head of the bed could hold all the electronics I use and keep them available within easy reach.

To each their own Do what makes you comfortable. My poem is for those who have no issues with their health.

Doing nothing is wrong and shortens our lifespan. We need to keep active, doing what we like to do, but getting lazy and doing nothing is wrong.

This is a beautiful reflection, both in your story and in the poem. I admire how you and your husband chose a different path, not slowing down but rather shifting gears. Designing gardens and now helping those in need demonstrates how meaningful retirement can be. I've just started my own retirement, and I'm really enjoying the solitude—the silence, even hearing my own voice. My wife, on the other hand, has decided to vent about work on occasion, and I gently remind her that she made the decision to return. Still, I believe we're both figuring out what this new season holds for us. That poem perfectly captures the idea that retirement can be a new beginning rather than an ending.ew season looks like for us. That poem truly captures it: retirement can be a beginning, not an end.

You are right since the key to happiness after retirement is to stay active doing something you enjoy.

Retirement is just another milestone in life. One should just embrace it. Live and enjoy,.... that's my mantra for every stage in life. I liked the poem
