Doctor's Appointment

Yesterday I had an appointment with my new primary doctor. I really liked her. She was very through and I do believe we will get to the root of a few problems very soon.
Before leaving she sent me to the lab to donate a little blood that amounted to 7 vials. The lab tech was a very skilled one and I barely felt the needle go in. Kudos to her!
I also have some other tests scheduled; a bone density scan, a thyroid ultrasound and a mammogram which got skipped because of insurance screw up last year. I showed up and they said my appointment was next week. I said no, we will not be in town next week, so why would I have scheduled an appointment for then? They never took the appointment off the calendar and then I couldn't reschedule test. They all argued that I had already had my test. So I just let it go.
Other than that, we wait for more results and the doctor's comments on blood work. So far a couple of problems have popped up.
How did your day go today?

@Nakitakona That's so important, because it shows us that everything is well on track.

@Nakitakona Yeah. That's why if it's really necessary, a doctor appointment makes some difference.

I don't think she will have much more to say until I've been on the new meds for awhile and get the tests done next week. I'm sure there will be more blood work when I go back to her to see what has changed. I started my new medicine for Fibro today and can move around much better already. I can't wait to get to day 3 or 4!

@JudyEv I remember my family doctor who used to speak so sweetly and positively that half of my illness vanished just after seeing his sweet smile.

@abhi_bangal You really do feel that some people actually listen to you and that they care about your well-being.

There are a lot of discussions here from the US friends who post about their doctor appointments for various reasons. The appointment can be routine check up or for any other particular reason. But I have realised that the volume of various tests and routine checkups is more over there as compared to what I see here.
For example I have never heard about bone density scan and thyroid ultrasound. In so many years I have never heard anyone talking about a bone density scan. Why is the volume of various tests so much there? Is there any particular reason or is it a way of life?

Women lose a lot of calcium after they go through menopause, so a bone density test is done first as a baseline and then checked every so many years as they age. Of course, there are other reasons for the test also. But the above is my reason.

@kareng Yes. I'm aware of the reason of women losing calcium. I've seen many women who have gone through this phase. But I'd never heard of it. I mean the tests. I was simply mentioning that there's more awareness about what we are discussing.

@garymarsh6 And then you have the opposite that want to give you lots of medicine to cure it all that doesn't do anything.

I hope it's nothing serious. I had my bone density scan and will have my mammogram next week. I wish I could discontinue the mammograms. My day is OK. It's about 6:30 am here now.

As soon as they straighten out our insurance I will be on the hunt for a new primary care. The one we have now is not my favorite.

Our last one was pityful. Knowing that I have severe leg cramps he gave me a medication for UTI with bad side affects of having very bad leg cramps. And yes, I got them!!
He did the same thing to my husband, prescribed something to him that raised his blood sugar sky high and almost sent him to ER. He knows he is a diabetic. WTH?
