That used to be like a bible in our household . We have other versions of dictionaries too in our library. They are now languishing. I wonder if book shops have them for sale as I doubt anyone would want to buy dictionaries these days. Who do you think will want to own dictionaries in this era?

I doubt that people still buy dictionaries. I even have an Arabic dictionary. We bought when we visited Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.

Were you able to pick Arabic enough to carry on a conversation when you visited those countries?

Nobody will want them. We have at least two dictionaries out in the garage with all the rest of my physical library.

@DaddyEvil Wow!! You know French I did two grades in German but the third I could not as they shifted the cloasses somewhere far which was inconvenient I do know a few sentences such as Ich liebe dich, Wie Gehts and so on.

Dictionary is a very sensitive issue to me, because my father had a range of dictionaries in our library. It included dictionaries like Oxford, Chambers, Longman, etc. We had Latin-English dictionary as well. And how can I forgot to mention Roger's Thesaurus - the original copy? We talked about this subject just a couple of days in our house. And we were thinking like donating those dictionaries in our local library here. Because literally the dictionary are lying in a pile of dust and languishing. So we thought instead of anyone in our house using it, we can at least donate them. So the potential students might be able to refer to them.

@allknowing Yeah. That's the best we can do. At least it'll help someone who might not be able to afford them.

@allknowing So many types of reference books have been rendered obsolete by the internet and it’s a great pity. Dictionaries and atlases etc used to be revered.

There will be a day when future generations will not even know if those reference books existed.

Although everything is available online at our fingertips, students still find dictionaries beneficial.

@Teekaaa Carrying such a heavy dictionary is not fair for students

@allknowing true. Since mobile Phones aren't allowed in schools and certain colleges, students are required to bring their dictionaries with them.

@allknowing I can understand traveling that far will not be that convenient unless it is nearby. Good at least you did 2 grades in German but I think Spanish or french is bit easy to learn than German na.
