The ddress in the photo belonged to Queen Eolizabeth. There is a shift in choices of a wedding dress these days I have seen halter neck off shoulder dresses worn by a bride and then there are those with noodle straps, even other than white. Talking about bouquets gone ard the days when pure white flowers were found in the bouquets. Now they are multi coloured. I like to see a bride with the kind of dress that you see in the photo Mine was white but with a less flow. What do you like to see in a bride?

I would like to see "less" in a bride, too many are wearing dressed that show too much of their bodies. This is a very old photo of my dress.

I wonder why no one points out to the way brides dress up these days. Yours is truly a modest outfit

It appears that some trends are moving away from the traditional white and toward more colorful alternatives to the all-white theme. Since the white theme can be difficult to find and at times more costly, I believe some people use a different theme to save money. Others simply want to break from the norm and stand out from the others. My wedding l recall, my wife's off-white, light cream-colored is still white seen from afar.

I suppose there is always an explanation why tradition is not followed. Off white is a pretty and sober colour too

The Queens wedding dress was made just after the war when materials were still on ration. Many people sent in their ration book for her to use to buy the material but as that was illigal she returned the ration coupons to those who sent them. She was given an extra ration allowance by the government & the dress was made of Chinese silk. Most brides look lovely no matter what they are wearing but it is better to be modest & cover bare skin. There now you know I have just told you l am old fashioned!

That's interesting news about the Queen's dress Thank you for that You do not have to be old fashioned to want a bride to cover her bare skin

My mother was married in a pink suit (she wasn't a young bride and not the wedding dress kind of person!) If I got married I used to think I would wear a red dress (traditional colour in the old Celtic tradition) but it has never come to that.

Pink suit and in an era where mostly brides would be seen in pure white outfits. And you would have been in red Quite an untraditional thought .

@allknowing My mother was 43 when she got married. She didn't think a 'girly' dress would be suitable. She had a very smart suit and a hat covered in fake rose petals that even smelled of roses! I still have it.

@Fleura At the end of the day I agree there is no hard and fast rule how a bride should present herself To each their own

Certainly styles have changed a great deal. What I DON'T like to see are tattoos but I guess they're here to stay.
