Mumble mumble mumble. Actually, for where the dental work was located (front tooth), I can talk and eat reasonably well. The good thing is, that doesn’t affect my typing any. Music always makes things better (I played the guitar riff from “Iron Man” when my dentist came into the room, referring to it as his “walk-up music” ), so here’s today’s song on the list of songs with “sun” in the title. Hope everyone knew this was coming. #8: Sundown - Gordon Lightfoot Did anyone really think I would leave Gord off? Please! I’ve mentioned it before, but of course I’m going to mention it again: this song is about the woman who gave John Belushi the fatal “speedball” cocktail in 1982. Of course, this song is from 1974, so Lightfoot had no idea of the fire he was playing with (of course, Lightfoot’s substance abuse problem was alcohol, not drugs). I’ve also mentioned that this was Lightfoot’s only #1 song in the US. DB and I were discussing the way having a #1 song wasn’t (and still isn’t) always a good indicator of an act’s success or legacy (we mentioned the fact that CCR never had a #1 song…and the Archies did ).
